Steven Rees Obituary

Steven Roy Rees, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at his home in Joshua, TX. Born August 25, 1958 in Flint, MI, Steve grew up in Grand Ledge, MI, attended St Michael’s Catholic School, and graduated from Grand Ledge High School. Upon graduation he began a long career with General Motors in the skilled trades, becoming a Journeyman Millwright. He worked at plants in Lansing and Flint, MI and finally Arlington, TX. After 42 years he retired from GM in June, 2021. Steve met Darlene in 2006 while living in Forth Worth, TX. They were married in January of 2007 making him a husband and father of 8 year old twin boys. As a youth, Steve enjoyed competing in motocross competitions and later in life he cheered on his sons in the same sport. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, woodworking and spending time with his family. In retirement Steve especially enjoyed working in his shop. An avid reader, Steve attributed most of his trivial knowledge to the books he read. Steve had a heart for those struggling with addictions and was intimately involved as a member of The Glass House in Fort Worth, TX. Steve had saving faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and credits his conversion to a security guard who shared Isaiah 41:9-10 with him when he was at a desperate time in his life. Steve is predeceased by his father, Lawrence Rees, his Aunt Muriel Mendrek (Henry), maternal grandparents Thomas and Zoe Noble and paternal grandparents Roy and Georgia Rees. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Rees of Joshua, TX; children, Nicholas Thomas (Moriah, fiancé) of Burleson, TX, Jacob Thomas (Lauren) of Hurst, TX; children by marriage, Larry Thomas Jr. (Dolly) of Plano, TX, grandson by marriage, Jordan Thomas of Plano, TX; mother, Angelie Rees of Holland, MI; siblings, Kristine Carlton (Brad) of Grand Rapids, MI, and Brian Rees (Keri) of Holland MI; nieces and nephews, Ryan Fedewa of Mundelein, IL, Joshua Fedewa (Kristen) of Brighton, MI, Rees Fedewa of Grand Rapids, MI, Rachel Rees of Fennville, MI, Ian Rees of Holland, MI, Alexander Rees, of Washington DC, Nicole Rees of Holland, MI; also several great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and many cousins.
