Louann Hart Obituary

Louann Passamonte Hart, 79, of Burleson, Texas, passed away on 23 February 2023 after a long battle with diabetes and heart disease.

Louann was a strong Texan woman with a big laugh, firm opinions, and an undying love for her family. Born on April 8, 1943, Louann was adopted by Jane Passamonte and Louise Harmon. Raised in a religious household, gifted with an opportunity to travel widely, and encouraged always to speak her mind, Louann was still young when she eagerly embraced a life of active service to her community.

She was committed to raising her children at home, but also worked to provide for the family. For years, she managed the toy department at JC Penney, making sure her kids were spoiled every birthday and Christmas with the latest skateboards and Star Wars toys. She worked as a school bus driver in Chicago, a job she loved as she got to work with children. Later in life, Louann became the director of the Burleson Pregnancy Aid Center, where she found one of her life’s great passions — working with new mothers to ease those difficult first few years of motherhood.

Throughout Louann’s busy and vibrant professional life, her family reigned supreme. Family was everything to Louann. Her kids were her grand passion, and seeing them grow to adulthood enriched her life with a deep and abiding happiness. Together with her husband John, with whom Louann shared more than 50 years of memories this past September, Louann threw her heart and soul into raising a wild mixed coalition of nine kids. Parenthood took center stage, and over the decades, the responsibilities of raising nine kids involved eight different universities, a nuclear submarine, law school, one crazy night sleeping in a grain silo in Montana, about 157 broken bones, several dogs, fish, birds, horses, and yes, even a monkey. The stories abound. Louann’s life as a mom and wife was rich, full, and filled with moments where her big laugh filled the air.

Louann made friends in the blink of an eye. And even though her opinions were firm, resolute — and vocal at times! — she always looked for the good in people. Faith played an enormous role in Louann’s life. She loved the Lord and was active as a Sunday school teacher. She cooked Wednesday night church suppers for years and through her long involvement with the church touched the lives of many people with her optimism and generosity.

John was her touchstone. As John and Louann grew old together, their lives became deeply intertwined. They finished each other’s sentences, grazed each other’s meals, and stole each other’s punchlines through many moons. Their deep love and commitment leaves a lasting legacy.

Louann is survived by her husband, John. He misses her dearly – more than words can say. She is also survived by 9 children: Lori, Cindy, Jack, Glory Dee, Louisa, Donisa, Terisa, Rocky, and Camille. She had 20 grandchildren: Shannon, Alyisa, Daniel, Greg, DJ, Amanda, Abby, Katie, Christian, Josh, Samantha, Dustin, Emily, Caleb, Matthew, Olivia, Abigail, Isabel, Lucia, and Hudson. She also had 4 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 28th at 1 pm at the Mountain Valley Funeral Home, 3407 SW Wilshire, Joshua TX 76058. There is a viewing at Mountain Valley on Monday, February 27th, from 6 pm to 8 pm.
