Lane Palmer Obituary

Lane Carter Palmer was born in Arlington, TX on December 24, 1986 to George and Paula (Johnson) Palmer. He knocked on heaven’s door early Wednesday morning October 18, 2023 where the Lord welcomed him with open arms.  Lane passed at Lake Whitney as he was preparing to launch his boat with Brown Dog and take out a couple for a wonderful day of crappie fishing.

Lane grew up in Joshua, TX with his parents and sister, Jordan Cowart. Lane attended Joshua schools all 13 years and graduated in 2005. He received his bachelor’s degree from TCU and worked for the football team as an equipment manager. In 2010, Lane began his career as a fishing guide at Cedar Creek Lake. Later, Lane expanded his business to fishing lures and hunting guides. He is the owner of Constant Pursuit, Ft. Worth Fishing and DFW Outfitters.

Lane and Dani grew up together in Joshua, but reunited in 2017 after Dani’s mom, Donna, did some matchmaking. Lane proposed in Isla Majeures, and they were later married there on June 30, 2019.

Lane was a man who lived his life unapologetically. He was a devoted husband, loving father, giving brother, and as loyal a friend as one could ask for.  Lane was an old soul, a thinker, dreamer, sharer of stories, ferocious reader, music enthusiast, wonderful cook and could paint a picture with his words.

Lane’s love for the outdoors led him to become a fishing and hunting guide. It was his calling. His passion for fishing began around the age of two.  His grandfather and great grandfather propped him up on a paint bucket and taught him to fish.  His grandfather took him on his first guided trip with Stefan Dollins at Possum Kingdom Lake where they caught stripers.   Later Lane was fortunate to take Mr. Dollins out.  His first “open water” fishing trip was at Isla Majeure where he caught a twelve-pound barracuda.  He was hooked!!  He had the pleasure of traveling to South America as a senior in high school to fish the Amazon for Peacock Bass.

As a guide Lane used qualities that were simply a part of who he was: He was authentic, quick-witted, incredibly knowledgeable, disciplined, and had a strong sense of integrity. Whether he was guiding in saltwater or freshwater, or up in a tree stand, he put a lot of smiles on people’s faces, and created a lot of lifelong memories for others.

Lane’s passion for the outdoors was equally met with his passion to serve others. And it was the uniting of these two passions that made him special. Lane liked to help others. Whether it was a mission trip, helping the fishing community, or having a genuine conversation with you, his desire to help others shone through.

In Lane’s free time, he loved to spend time with his friends and family; he chose quality time over any material gift one could give. He enjoyed camping trips with friends, hunting at the deer lease, and traveling to Isla Majeures with family. Lane was also a strong Christian and would spend time in God’s word, while attending Pathway Church at every opportunity. Later in life, Lane took up gardening and like everything else, he succeeded at it. He was so proud of his garden that he even made Dani take a picture of him next to it, with, of course, the sunlit mesquite trees in the background.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have offered support during this difficult time. Lane Carter Palmer’s love of life and fishing will forever live in our hearts.

Lane was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Roberta Johnson, Doris Palmer, and father-in-law Gene Pipes.

He is survived by his wife Dani Palmer and four children: Jaxon, Lexi, Andi, and the esteemed Madeira aka “Brown Dog”
