Joan Shelton Obituary

Joan Shelton, 75 years old, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 26th, 2022 with her family by her side.

Joan was born on May 22, 1947, in Meridian, Texas to Jack and Evelyn Campbell. She married James Mack Martin and raised two beautiful children in Frierson, Louisiana until Mack unexpectedly passed away. Joan and her two children then moved back to Burleson, Texas where she eventually gained the strength to begin anew. She met her current husband, Jack Shelton, and the two enjoyed traveling, attending church functions, and watching their family grow.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.  A lover of Jesus, Dr. Pepper and cats, Joan was most happy spending time with and caring for her family.  Joan’s loving spirit and generous heart could be felt by anyone she encountered. Although she will be greatly missed, we find solace in knowing she is free from pain and reunited with her son Greg and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Joan is survived by her husband, Jack Shelton; daughter, Teresa Wilkins; stepsons, Richard Shelton and his wife Kelly; Randall Shelton and his wife Tammy; Ronny Shelton and his wife Wendi; brother Kenneth Campbell and his wife Julaney; sisters, Jackie Towler and her husband Vernon; Shyrel Linthicum and her husband Ralph; and Angie West; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29th from 6-8pm at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua, Texas. Her celebration of life will be Thursday, June 30th at 10am also at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society.

“I wish so much you wouldn’t cry
The way you did today;
While thinking of the many things
We didn’t get to say.

I know how much you love me
As much as I love you;
And each time that you think of me,
I know you’ll miss me too.

So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don’t think we’re far apart
For every time you think of me,
I’m right here in your heart.”

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
How do you know Joan C Shelton?
We are sorry for your loss.
