James Minor Obituary

James (Jimmy) Minor was born in Fort Worth on March 16, 1946 and passed away on February 27,2021 at his home surrounded by his wife of 54 years, two children and his five grandchildren, all of whom he adored.

He was a 1964 graduate of Burleson High School, and a proud Elk.  He enjoyed watching Shawn and Sheri and granddaughter Lauren being Elks also.  He retired in 2002 from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he worked as a Communications Technician for 36 years.  The job he enjoyed the most was the three years he was a crossing guard at The Academy at Nola Dunn.  Students and parents remembered him and would say hello to him often.  Jimmy was an avid golfer with 4 hole-in-ones over his golfing career.  In retirement, he played golf several times a week, and served as a Marshall at Hidden Creek golf course in Burleson two days a week.  Here, he made many new friends and often visited with lifelong friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Daniel Minor, who was the love of his life, son Shawn Minor and wife Michelle, daughter Sheri Ray and husband Hank, five grandchildren:  Layton Edward Minor, Daniel Keith Ray, Ashton James Minor, Maeci Marie  Ray, and Lauren Elizabeth Minor.

Brother, David Minor, Sisters-in-law Sylvia Wallace, Inez Kerby, Patricia McClendon and Brother-in-law William Daniel and wife Linda and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ed and Marie Minor, Brother Rick Minor and his cherished grandparents Sam and Bessie Parsons.
