Guillermo “Memo” Flores, 79, of La Constancia, Durango, Mexico, passed away on November 17, 2020, at home with his family.
Memo was born the son of Guillermo Flores R. and Juana Blanco S. on May 23, 1941, in Nombre de Dios, Durango, Mexico. He came to the United States from humble beginnings and worked hard for 36 years at Miller Container Company in Milan, Illinois to successfully build a comfortable life for his family in his beloved city of Moline, Illinois. Memo married Emma, the love of his life and devoted companion in 1963. She survives him.
He is also survived by his siblings, his brothers Armando, Jesús, Augustin, Santiago, his sister Lilia and their children, his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Memo is also survived by his son Martin Flores and his son Andrew; his son Gustavo and his children Tyler and Samantha; his daughter Adriana “Lalas” (Demetrio) and their children, Demi and Victoria; his daughter Angie(Rick) and their children Richie, Memo, and Olivia; his daughter Juanita (Bert) and their children Darius, Mía, Nina, Dani, and Reina; and his daughter Laura (LeRoy) and their children Brisa, Israel, and Ismael. Memo is also survived by his great-granddaughter Jocelyn Elena.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Juana Blanco S., his father Guillermo Flores R., his niece Chelina, and his nephew Ricky.
Memo was the family patriarch, a provider, protector, and a loving father to an extended family. He was most known for his generosity, especially to the underprivileged. He gave freely and cheerfully to anyone in need. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, from 6 to 8 pm at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua, Texas. A Catholic burial mass will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at 10 am at St. Matthews Church in Arlington, TX. Burial will be held at 12 pm at Moore Memorial Gardens.
