Obituary

Ginny Dee Whitlock Smith, 76, of Joshua went home to be with the Lord on May 18, 2023. She was born Sept. 30, 1946, to Guy D and Lily Alma (Hiner) Whitlock.

She was born and raised in Johnson County and was a lifelong resident. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Lane Prairie Baptist Church.

Ginny loved yard work, flowers, and her dog. She was a caregiver and being able to interact with all people, which made it feel like she had no friends because she made everyone feel like family.

She is survived by her son, Eric McMurry of Crowley; sisters, Ann Malone of Joshua and Sondra Watson of Granbury; brother, Bob Whitlock of Cleburne; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy D and Alma Whitlock; daughter, Cochuan McMurry; and sister, Peggie Owens.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, in the Mountain Valley Funeral Home chapel with Pasters Jerry Clements and Ricky Fuchs. Visitation is from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the funeral home.
