Georgia Sells Obituary

Georgia Dean Geron Sells, a longtime resident of Burleson, passed away June 27th, 2020 at home by her husband’s side.

Georgia was born on March 9th, 1947 in Kermit, TX to George H Geron and Belma Nadine (Basham) Geron. The family moved from Kermit to Fort Worth when she was 6 years old and later to Alvarado TX where she graduated from High School in 1965. That is where she met her future husband, Donny. When her future husband went into the army she faithfully waited for him to return and wrote letters (back then we didn’t have text or email) to him nearly everyday while he served overseas. They were married just 12 days after he returned home and began over 50 years of love.  Georgia retired after working 28 years for GSA as a Contracting Officer.  She then devoted 7 to 8 years working with FEMA, where she felt most rewarded.

Georgia grew up attending church which was a must in the Geron family. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, many times solo for the whole church family. She always loved Jesus and believed in him always. That is why we know she is now reunited in Heaven with her loved ones that passed before her and that she is looking down on us now.

Georgia was a fun loving person. She loved the time that she had with her children, grandchildren and her extended family. She always acted silly and liked to make people laugh at her as she laughed at herself. She especially liked dancing to lively music. She loved the vacation trips that she was able to take with her children when they were young and then later several long scenic driving trips through most of the US. She also loved the cruises that she and Donny were able to take where she loved to parasail and zip line in addition to all the activities on board the ship.

The family wants to extend their appreciation to all the care takers who for the last several months have taken care of Georgia and especially Darlene And Bonnie who made Georgia’s last few days more comfortable.

We also want to extend our appreciation to Leann who found the time to provide the family with a full home cooked meal everyday for the last 10 days of Georgia’s final battle.

Georgia was preceded in death by her Father George, her Mother Nadine and  her brother Jerry Geron.

She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Donny Sells; sister Susie Mitchell and husband Gary; son Jeff Sells and wife Sylvia; daughter Tammie Sibley and husband Dennis and daughter Pam Sells; grandchildren Lauren and husband Shane, Kelsi, Kirsten, Ethan, Sara and Bryanna and many loving extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to “Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth”  912 West Broadway, Fort Worth Texas 76104

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
