Obituary

Eleanore (Ellie) Marie Ustanik

Our friend, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and beyond all, wife, Eleanor (Ellie) Marie Ustanik passed peacefully in Fort Worth, Texas on April 14, 2023. Ellie was dearly loved and was given a few moments for her children and some grandchildren to say goodbye. She was well-loved and loved her family so well. She was the kindest and most selfless person to ever grace our world, and she has left an immensely huge legacy of endearment within every person that was fortunate enough to know her.

Eleanore (Ellie) Ustanik was born Eleanore Marie Nemeth to Joseph and Bertha Nemeth in East Chicago, Indiana on January 11, 1940. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Arthur (Archie) Nemeth.

Ellie is survived by her loving husband, Andrew Paul Ustanik; her older son, Michael Andrew Ustanik and his wife Teresa and their sons, Anthony Michael-Ross Ustanik (his children, Kiara, Holly and Jakub) and James Austin Ustanik; her younger son, James Andrew Ustanik and his wife Tamara (Tammy) and their children Anthony Lee Susa and his wife Crystal (their children, Dylan, Logan and Colbie), Lauren Valerie Burch and her husband Jason (their children, Carly and Dane), Brittany Paige Clark and her husband Jacob Clark (their children Morgan and Cameron); her late brother Archie’s children: her niece Kristen Lynn Evans and her husband Jeff (their children, Haley and Isaac), her nephew Peter Joseph Nemeth and his wife Mary (their children, Ellie [named after Aunt Eleanore], Kailynn and Mason); her brother Joseph (Joe) Nemeth and his wife Sarah (their children and grandchildren).

Ellie gave so much of her heart to her family and was extremely compassionate in helping others. She helped heal not only her family members but dedicated her life to patient care working at the veterans’ administration by serving and retiring as registered nurse at the V.A. Hospital in Temple, Texas after previously serving as a registered nurse at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. After retirement, Ellie survived having breast cancer and became very involved with helping the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation with ongoing events as a volunteer as well as becoming involved with other caring organizations such as The Careity Foundation and other cancer foundations, that shared her passion for helping others. In fact, Ellie attended over 75 Races for the Cure with her “Bosom Buddies” and racing buddies including her dear friend Carol (these friends were engraved as Table 21 at the Joanie Hatcher Memorial events). Ellie also worked with many support groups to both share her firsthand knowledge and learn more about diabetes and cancer prevention/self-management making many new friends along the way. She gave additional support as a hospice nurse after retirement as well. Her heart had no boundaries.

Ellie was young at heart and she and her husband Andy have friends of all ages. They enjoyed many travels together and discovering new places nationally while keeping up with as many family members as possible.

She will continue to inspire her loved ones because of her uplifting spirit that always sought the best in everyone and in all things. Her sweet, blessed and selfless spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
