Obituary

Doris was born September 8, 1931, in Cleburne, Texas to Elbert Maurice Irwin and Ethel Mackey Irwin. She was an only child, attended Cleburne schools, and married another only child, Jack Gurley, in 1952 (who preceded her in death in 1972). Two children, Cindy and Roger, were born of this union.

Doris found a second love and in 1976 married Pete Richardson, who died in 2013. She worked as a production assistant/secretary for Wheeler Oil Company and retired in 1997 after 33 years at a position that was originally intended to be part-time. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Burleson, particularly the Co-Workers Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her children - Cindy Gurley Ply and Roger Gurley (Sara); stepsons Orvie Richardson (Pam) and Tim Richardson (Roxy); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law on the Richardson side; as well as her beloved dog, Bitsy.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to First United Methodist Church of Burleson
