Billy “Bud” Wayne Ward, of Joshua, Texas passed away on November 11, 2021 at the age of 90. Billy passed peacefully at his home with his beloved wife Martha, his sons and his grandchildren by his side. Billy was born on January 2, 1931 to William Clifton Ward and Mozella Bouldin Ward in Dalhart, Texas. Billy grew up in Eldorado, Oklahoma as the middle child of three children. Growing up during the Great Depression, Billy didn’t have the opportunity for much formal education. He helped out on his family’s small farm and worked odd jobs starting at an early age. Billy served in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany for most of his service. In 1956, Billy started working at the General Motors assembly plant in Arlington, Texas. Billy retired from General Motors in 1988 after 33 years of service. In 1965, Billy met Martha Virginia Spradley and they wed that same year. Billy was an avid rancher and farmer his entire life. Billy was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Lloyd Clifton Ward. He is survived by his wife Martha Ward; sister Ozella Culp; sons Ricky McBride and wife Kim, Eddie Ward and wife Taffy, Billy D. Ward and wife Brandi, and Joey Ward and wife Tonna; grandchildren Kristen Ball, Lauren McBride, Meagan McBride, Kenzie Ward, Lacy Mayberry, Billy T. Ward, Blake Ward, Riley Ward, Nathan Dodd, Cody Bryant, Cali Bryant; and numerous great-grandchildren including his beloved Emma Mayberry.
A visitation for Billy is planned for Monday, November 15, 2021, from 6 pm to 8 pm. The visitation will be at the Mountain Valley Funeral Home located at 3407 SW Wilshire Blvd, Joshua, Texas. All are invited to attend. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, November, 16, 2021 at 10:30am at Hopewell Cemetery, Cleburne, Texas.
