Virginia Kay Blackwell

Virginia "Ginna" Kay Blackwell, 89 years old, was born in Pruitt, Oklahoma on Friday, September 25, 1936 to William "Mack" McKinley Wilson and Lillie Pearl Wilson.

She passed away peacefully just after midnight, Sunday, April 19, 2026.

Ginna grew up with her parents and seven siblings. Lillie Elnora Ayers, Austin Herman Wilson, Lois Alberta Tooker, Billy Dale Wilson & Clark Ray Wilson, Barbara "Babs" June Davis and Walter "Deano" Dean Wilson.

Ginna attended grade school and graduated from Lefor's High School in 1954. She met her beloved husband, Fred Wayne Blackwell, as they both attended Lefor's and were high school sweethearts. On Sunday, June 12, 1955, Fred and Ginna were united in marriage and celebrated 64 years together before his passing on Sunday, November 24, 2019.

Ginna loved her family deeply. She was a dedicated daughter that took care of both her parents in their last days, a devoted wife, a loving mother & mother-in-law, a tender Nana to her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, a giving sister, and kind aunt to her many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews .

Ginna was a strong Christian woman and her family attended Burleson Church of Christ since 1960, she loved Jesus with all her heart and loved serving others and had an amazing heart for children. She was faithful to spend time in God's word daily and was a real prayer warrior.

Ginna also owned a travel agency in Burleson for 13 years, was active in the Burleson Chamber of Commerce and loved traveling with her family. She had many great adventures and traveling and exploring God's creation here on earth made her so happy. She also loved being in the kitchen and cooking up something for her family. Ginna retired in 2001.

Ginna was preceded in death by her parents, William "Mack" McKinley Wilson & Lillie Pearl Wilson; her husband, Fred Wayne Blackwell; her son Douglas Wayne Blackwell; her siblings, Lillie Elnora Ayers, Austin Herman Wilson, Lois Alberta Tooker, Billy Dale Wilson & Clark Ray Wilson.

Ginna is survived by her daughter, Gayle Richardson and husband Brian; her son, Robert "RW" Blackwell and wife Hollie; sister, Barbara "Babs" Davis; brother, Walter "Deano" Dean Wilson; her 4 grandchildren; Destanie Blackwell Parks, Makayla Blackwell Hebert, Makenzie Blackwell, and Daniel Blackwell; her 9 great-grandchildren; Derrick, Dante, Arielle, Lei'Lani, Julieanne, Charlotte, Ezekiah, Cooper and Logan, many nephews and nieces'; great nephews and nieces'; great-great nephews and nieces'.

Ginna and her priceless smile will forever live in our hearts.
