We celebrate the life of Tommie Jean Polson Dial, born April 8th, 1948, in Cleburne, Texas and passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026. We come together not only in grief, but in gratitude-for the years we were blessed to share with her, for the love she gave so freely, and for the strength she showed throughout her life.
Tommie was preceded in death by her mother and father, William David and Opal Juanita (Peterson) Polson; her two children, Bryan Keith Dial and Audra Lynette Dial; her sister Sondra Allen; her brother Kelly Polson; and her former spouse, Rodger Darnell Dial. Today, we remember them as part of the great cloud of witnesses welcoming her home.
Tommie was the third youngest of seven children, part of a big, lively Texas family. She is survived by her brothers Charles Polson (wife Joyce), David Polson (wife Janet), Randall Polson (wife Valerie), and her sister Vickie Kroon (husband David). Family was always at the center of Tommie's world, and she carried that devotion into every chapter of her life.
She and Rodger built a life marked by hard work, resilience, and deep loyalty. Together they welcomed four children into the world, and she is survived by Tamara Dawn Jackson Nickasch (husband Eric) and Rodger Heath Dial (wife Kim). Tommie was also blessed with five grandchildren-Monica Jackson, Tessa Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Jaxon Dial, and Whitney Dial-each of whom brought her tremendous joy. She loved them fiercely, and they were the light of her later years.
In 1978, Tommie and Rodger bought a Texaco between Burleson and Joshua, which later became Dial's Muffler and Radiator Shop. Tommie kept the books, managed the business, and helped build a reputation for honesty and quality that the community came to rely on. After nearly two decades of commitment, they sold the business in 1997 and opened Dial's Mini Storage, continuing their tradition of serving the community through hard work and integrity.
Tommie began her years at Alcon in the mid 90's where she worked as an administrative assistant. She brought the same determination, sharp mind, and steady presence to her work there, earning the respect of everyone around her. She was known to protect those around her fiercely, and more than one person could tell you she wasn't above locking a door or two if it meant keeping her people safe and giving them a moment of peace.
In time, Tommie built a new chapter of her life alongside Raymond Brown, where the two of them found companionship, laughter, and a shared love of competition-especially on the golf course. Their competitive spirits matched one another, and many days were spent enjoying the game, pushing each other, and celebrating the friendly rivalry that brought them both so much joy.
Those who knew Tommie will tell you she was spirited and full of fire-true to her red‑headed Polson roots. She had a strength that showed up in big ways and small ones. She fought for the underdog. She defended the people she loved without hesitation. And she had a way of making sure no one she cared about ever felt alone. She was known for her sweet treats including her famous sock it to me cake, date balls, brownies, and as a last resort, Braum's Snickerdoodle cookies! She never visited her grandkids without having a sweet treat ready for them.
In her final days, Tommie faced cancer with the same courage and determination that defined her entire life. She fought hard. She held on with love. And she showed us all what true strength looks like.
As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories-too many to count-of her laughter, her stubbornness, her loyalty, and her love. We remember her as a mother, a sister, a grandmother, and a friend. And we trust that she is now at peace, reunited with the loved ones who went before her, wrapped in the eternal love of God.
May her memory be a blessing, and may her spirit continue to live on in each of us.
