Shirley H Jackson of Saginaw, Texas passed away surrounded by loved ones on December 6, 2025 at the age of 89. She was a natural caregiver who devoted her life to the service of others both in her career as a medical assistant and to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley Ann Harrison was born on September 9, 1936 in Red River County, TX to parents Floye and Creel Harrison. Her earliest days were divided between picking cotton with her family, working on the family farm with her younger sisters Patsy and Margaret, and attending school where she graduated valedictorian of Hooks High School class of 1954. Her intelligence and work ethic remained constant throughout her life where she balanced her career in the medical field and her greatest joy raising daughter Deborah and son Keith.
Sometimes true soul mates meet later on in life and this was the case for Shirley who met and married husband J Don Jackson in 1975. Together they built a lifelong partnership and devoted themselves to being the best parents and grandparents they could be.
She enjoyed playing board games with family and solving puzzles. She loved reading to her children and grandchildren. She loved gospel music and spent many nights watching the Grand Ole Opry on TV with family. She had an adventurous spirit and cherished every opportunity she had to visit new places. She loved going to church and her faith was a great source of strength throughout her life. She was a connector and above all else wanted the family to be together during the holidays.
Shirley, Mom, Granny, is preceded in death by husband J Don Jackson, daughter Deborah Leathers, parents Floye Collins and Creel Harrison, and sister Margaret Haynes. She is survived by son Keith Morton and wife Suzanne; grandchildren Jenn, Chad, Jason, Chance, Challey and Chelsey; her many great grandchildren and sister Patsy Johnson.
She can rest peacefully knowing her life was full and meaningful and she will forever be remembered by those whose lives were deeply impacted by her unconditional love and generosity.
