O.G. Richardson, 88, commonly known as Pete, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church of Burleson. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home of Joshua. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Burleson-Courtyard Garden. Pete was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Burleson to Benjamine Dewey Richardson and Jennie Lou Morris Richardson. He married the mother of his two sons, Paula Ferguson, in 1942; she preceded him in death. He served his country in World War II, serving in the Army as quarter master, in Australia and New Guinea. Upon returning home, he worked in auto-related businesses in the Burleson area, having started at an early age working with his father and brothers in the Burleson Wrecking Yard. He was a true handyman and was willing to help any and all he could. In 1976 he married Doris Gurley and they enjoyed many happy years together. He was a longtime member of Burleson's First United Methodist Church, having served in several capacities, and the Co-Workers Sunday School Class. Pete came from a large family; three brothers predeceased him, Martin "Son" Aubrey, T.L. "Bill" and Chuck, and two sisters, Frances Lee and Clara Williams. Survivors: Wife, Doris; children, Orvie Richardson and wife, Pam, of Llano, Tim Richardson, and wife, Karen, of Flint, Cindy Ply of Burleson, and Roger Gurley and wife, Sara, of Burleson; numerous Grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Josephine Spinks, Mary Lou Reeves and husband, Lee Roy, and Patricia Massey and husband, Charles; brother, Jimmy Richardson and wife, Brenda, all of Burleson; sister-in-law, Jeanene Richardson of Fort Worth; many nieces, nephews and extended family members; and beloved companion, Scarlet.
