Leonard Lowenthal

October 12, 1948 — August 29, 2025

Lon Lowenthal passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2025 after a courageously fought 6-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Jerri Heppel, his sisters Lindsay Lowenthal and Lauren Lowenthal Gerard (Clay Gerard), his nephew Ryan Gerard (Katlyn Gerard) and niece Olivia Gerard.

Lon was born in New York on October 12, 1948. He graduated from Carle Place High School in 1967 where he was on the wrestling team and played guitar in garage bands.

He attended community college in NY and then in 1969 he moved down to Texas ahead of the family's move to Dallas, to attend the University of North Texas (then called NTSU). He graduated and continued on to get an MBA Economics/Marketing. His career was primarily spent in the food service industry, managing restaurants and also working for liquor and wine companies as well.

Lon met Jerri in 2000 and after being together for 16 years, they finally flew off to the infamous Elvis Chapel and made it official. They would have celebrated 25 years together in October. Jerri was the love of his life and together they doted on their beloved pups and his precious Bubbie the Basset Hound will miss him fiercely. She was definitely a daddy's girl.

Lon was an avid cook, earning the nickname "Lon Won" from all those that enjoyed his delicious dishes! He was also a wine connoisseur and enjoyed being part of a wine dinner club with friends for many years. Around the time of Covid, Lon and Jerri decided to leave the congested and fast paced life in Dallas for a quieter and slower paced life in Joshua, just south of Ft. Worth.

Lon laughed easily, had a quick wit, was thoughtful and caring and always let those that he cared about know that they were important in his life. He will be terribly missed.

A celebration of Lon's life is planned for October with details yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Lon's memory to the charity of your choice.
