Larry Turman assumed his citizenship in Heaven on January 13, 2026, at the age of seventy-three.
Larry was born to Luther Clifton and Patricia Drew Turman in Ft. Worth, Texas, on February 4, 1952 - the third of four boys, including brothers Tom, John and Mike. Larry spent his formative years in Idaho, graduating from Boise High School in 1971. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Larry earned associate degrees from Texas State Technical College in Radio & Television and Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, working for much of his career in and around family business concerns. Beyond his professional career, Larry was simply an exceptionally talented individual. He was avid in his avocations and persistent in his pursuits: if Larry shot, he shot competitively; if he built a fence, it was straight; if he undertook a new hobby, he did so with both abandon and focus, quickly mastering the golf swing or the fly-rod back cast or the finer points of two-wheeled motorcycles.
Larry was energetic and vital - impatient toward inactivity and crafted to be out-of-doors. To those who knew him, this was also clear: Larry preferred the company of canines to the fellowship of humans, the former less likely to say things he thought stupid or to make poor decisions. Among the four-legged friends who nuzzled and cared for him were Whiskey, Zack, Sam, Princess, Perdy, Stinky, Scooter, Abby, Dude, Moose and current pals Lucy, Pete and Hank. Though sometimes affecting a gruff exterior, Larry's own bark was meaningfully worse than his bite - and those fortunate enough to be his friends, or blessed enough to be his family, knew him to be kind, hospitable, witty and generous.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike, as well as an infant son, Clifton Emerson Turman. He leaves behind his wife, Penny; his daughter, Tricia (and husband, Jerome); his sons, Jesse and Cody (and wife Amber); his brothers, John (and wife Elaine) and Tom (and wife Carolyn); grandchildren William, Alexander, Kendyll, Elijah, Cooper, Kutter and Teagan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
