Lanelle Barnett

December 12, 1938 — November 5, 2024

Ruth LaNelle Barnett was born December 12, 1938 in Fort Worth Texas to Clettus and LaVerne Winnett. She passed away early Tuesday morning November 5, 2024 with family by her side. LaNelle was an only child and with that had a very special bond with her parents. She attended Fort Worth schools with the exception of a few memorable elementary years in Morgan Mill Texas. While living there she taught herself how to play the ukelele, and even sang on the local radio station with a friend. Later her family moved back to Fort Worth where she graduated from Pascal High School in 1957. LaNelle married Glenn Barnett August 29, 1957. She loved her family and was a loving wife and Mother, but her most cherished title was Mamaw. She loved to cook, and her buttermilk pies were a specialty often requested, but her pancakes were legendary. She and Glenn shared a love of antiques and spent lots of time searching for and refinishing them for their home. LaNelle retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1994 with thirty-three years of service.
LaNelle was preceded in death by her parents Clettus and LaVerne Winnett and her husband Glenn Barnett. She is survived by their two children daughter Shellye Goines and husband Gary and son Bruce Barnett. Eight grandchildren Brandye Hanson, Chantz Hanson and wife Cassie, Bobby Barnett, Brittany Acosta and husband Anthony, Chelsea Goines, Courtney Goines, Carly Lowrimore and husband Matt and Payton Goines. Six great grandchildren Layla and Colt Acosta, Brinley Barnett, Hazel Hanson and Emmett and Eli Lowrimore.
