Johnnie William Barton, age 46, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, following a courageous 12-year battle with cancer.

He was born on December 26, 1979, to David Frank Barton and Shirley Kay Barton. From an early age, Johnnie was known for his generosity, kindness, humor, and determination. He grew into someone whose presence brought comfort and happiness to the people fortunate enough to know him.

Johnnie attended Southwest High School and went on to a very successful career as a Commercial Delivery Driver, Logistics Manager, and then transitioned into Commercial Construction. He especially loved spending time with his girlfriend Paige and their three dogs, being outdoors, hiking, fishing, working out, playing baseball and softball and being surrounded by his friends and family. He was an avid fan of the Little League World Series, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys. To his family and friends, he will be remembered for his infectious smile and his huge heart.

For twelve years, Johnnie faced cancer with remarkable courage and toughness. Though the illness was an enormous challenge, it did not define the fullness of his life or the love he gave to others. His determination, grit, and spirit touched everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his girlfriend Paige Pethtel, Brother Daniel Barton, Brother Chase Bowen and his wife Elizabeth, Brother Chad Bowen and his wife Hannah, Sister Alicia Babb and her husband Matt, two Nieces, Jocelyn Bowen and Emma Bowen, Nephew Jasek Vallejo, Stepfather David Paul Bowen, Aunt and Uncle Maggie and Carroll Wright, seven Cousins and perhaps, the most important, his beautiful dog Sugar Louise Barton.  

He is preceded in death by his Father David Frank Barton Sr., his Mother Shirley Kay Bowen, his older brother David Frank Barton Jr., his grandparents George and Elsie Wright and Johnnie William and Olibbia Barton.

A memorial service will be held at Burleson Church of Christ, 1150 NW John Jones Drive, Burleson, Texas 76028 on September 23, 2026 at 11am.

Visitation will be held Mountain Valley Funeral Home, 3407 SW Wilshire BLVD, Joshua, Texas, 75058 on Tuesday September 22, 2026 from 6pm-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Association.

He was deeply loved and he will be profoundly missed.
