Gwen Viola Purselley

Gwen Viola Purselley was born on May 28, 1928, in Weatherford, Texas, to Clarence and Ollie Biggs Dugan. She moved to Burleson, Texas, in 1942 and made it her home for the remainder of her life. Gwen passed away on July 22, 2026, at the age of 98.

Gwen was married to Veron "Junior" Purselley for 38 years. Together, they owned and operated the Burleson Dairy Cow Sale. Gwen also worked as a photographer for many years, capturing special moments for countless families in the community.

Following the death of her husband, Gwen continued serving others as a dedicated volunteer at Huguley Hospital. She was a faithful member of Hallmark Baptist Church and lived her life with kindness, strength, and a deep love for her family and her faith.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ollie Dugan; her husband, Veron "Junior" Purselley; her son, Ricky Don Purselley; and her brothers, Ancil Dugan and Don Dugan.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, D'ann Dugan; Dale Dugan and his wife, Sheryl; Linda; and Brenda Tucker and her husband, Greg. She is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews and many good friends.

Gwen will be remembered for her spirited personality, kind heart, genuine nature, and the love she shared with everyone who knew her. Her long and meaningful life was a blessing to her family, friends, church, and community, and she will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on July 23, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. A graveside service and interment will be held on July 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Burleson Memorial Cemetery in Burleson, Texas.
