George William (Pete) Vollenweider
July 31, 1941 - June 22, 2025

Pete Vollenweider, age 83, of Burleson, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025. Born on July 31, 1941, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Pete was the youngest of nine siblings and carried his Louisiana pride and warmth throughout his life.

Pete attended De La Salle High School in New Orleans where he was a standout student and athlete. His pitching efforts led to his appointment to the high school's hall of fame. Pete earned his bachelor's degree from Loyola University, where he played college baseball and basketball while earning his degree in Accounting. After graduation, he proudly served four years in the U.S. Army, demonstrating the same dedication and steadiness that would define his life and career.

During his working years, Pete worked as an accountant for Bell Helicopter, Lockheed Martin, and the University of North Texas Health Science Center. He was deeply respected by colleagues for his integrity and professionalism.

Beyond his professional life, Pete was an accomplished photographer whose passion for nature and wildlife shone through every image. His photography won numerous contests, and he was often invited to photograph weddings and special events-though he most loved capturing the natural world. You can view some of his photos of nature and religious pilgrimages here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/129025038@N05/. At home, he found peace in his garden and birdwatching with his wife.

Pete was a devoted member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Burleson, Texas, where he was known as kind, friendly, and always ready to lend a helping hand. His faith and community meant the world to him. As a church member, he and his wife traveled often on church pilgrimages to learn more about the origins of their faith.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Vollenweider; his children, Will Vollenweider (married to Tami Vollenweider) and Amy Wagner (married to Robb Wagner); and his cherished grandchildren: Shawna, Austin, and Alyssa. He was a proud father and grandfather who loved his family deeply and unconditionally.

A viewing and Rosary will be held on July 1 from 6:00-8:00 PM (Rosary at 7:00 PM) at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Joshua, Texas. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on July 2 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Burleson, Texas, followed by a small meal for family and friends.

Pete will always be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved him.
