Earle Wesley "Mickey" Bruce, Jr., age 82, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026. He was born on July 4, 1944, in Ballinger, Texas to Earle and Stuart Evelyn Bruce.
From the very beginning, Mickey had a personality all his own. When his grandfather, affectionately known as "Daddy Mac," took one look at him as a newborn, he declared that Baby Earle looked like a little mouse with huge ears. And with that, the nickname "Mickey" was born - a name that would stay with him throughout his life.
Mickey grew up in Odessa, Texas, and graduated from Odessa Permian High School in 1962. Some of Mickey's fondest memories from his high school years were the lifelong friendships he made at P.H.S. and countless hours spent cruising around Tommy's.
Mickey was an avid football fan and loved the game throughout his life. His passion for football led him to serve for many years as a high school/college football referee, allowing him to stay close to the game he loved so much.
Mickey lived life in his own unforgettable way. He was funny, spirited, outgoing, and truly one of a kind. His memory will live on through the stories he shared, the friendships he made, and the family he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mickey is survived by his daughters, Shanna Clark and husband Paul of Burleson, Texas, Shealynn Schank and husband Paul of Houston, Texas, Bonus daughters, Kelly Arroyo of Boynton Beach, Florida, and Kim Forrest of Tennessee.
Grandchildren Corbin Clark and wife Tori, Kristen Schank, Lauren Schank, Dante Giessuebel, Amber, Katie, and Robbie.
Great-grandchildren Grace and Sammie.
He is also survived by his sister's Bettye Medcalf and Debra "Gus" Merrick along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and lifelong friends who will forever cherish his memory.
The family extends their heart felt gratitude to the Staff and Caregivers at Santa Fe Trails (Cleburne, Texas) for their loving care and compassion over the past two years, as well as to Gateway Hospice. A special thank you to Amy for the kindness, comfort, and care she provided to Mickey and our family.
"No public services are planned. Online condolences may be shared with the family on the funeral home website."
