Don Powell

Donald Ray Powell, born on January 16, 1938, in Johnson County, Texas, to Milton Guy Powell and Bertha Powell. He passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, October 25, 2025.

Don grew up on a sharecropper's cotton farm in what is now known as the Lillian area before the family moved to Alvarado. He was raised alongside his parents and three siblings - Betty, Milton Guy Jr., and Joann.

He attended school in Alvarado, Texas, and after he left school, worked at Williamson-Dickies Clothing and General Dynamics. He later began a 28-year career transporting fuel for Gulf Oil Corporation. After retiring, Don enjoyed team roping and became the proud proprietor of Don's Feed and Grocery.

A lifelong resident of the Alvarado and Burleson areas, Don is survived by his 4 children - Mark Powell, Mitch Powell, Matt Powell, and Dona Powell Moore - along with 45 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy.

He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
