Cynthia Ann "Nanny" Martin

1930-2026

Cynthia Ann Martin, lovingly known as "Nanny" to her family, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, at the age of 96.

Cynthia was born on January 30, 1930, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Louis and Cynthia Hernandez. She grew up in Hillsboro alongside her five siblings, surrounded by a loving family.

In April 1950, she married the love of her life, Robert Lee Martin. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised five children: Robert Martin Jr., David Martin, Betsy Hollingsworth, Darlene Jones, and Darby Martin.

As a military wife, Cynthia traveled the world alongside her husband and family, building memories wherever life took them. In 1964, they put down roots in Burleson, Texas, and made it their home.

To those who loved her, Cynthia was so much more than the roles she held. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Above all, she was the heart of her family.

Cynthia had a way of making people feel welcomed and loved. Her home became the place where everyone gathered, not because of the house itself, but because she was there. It was a place filled with family, food on the table, children playing, laughter filling the rooms, and people lingering long after the meal was over.

Cynthia's faith in God was a cornerstone of her life. She loved the Lord deeply, and her faith guided the way she lived, loved, and cared for those around her. It was a source of strength throughout her life and a foundation she passed down through generations of her family. Those who loved her find comfort in knowing that the faith she carried so faithfully throughout her life has now brought her home.

Her family will miss her more than words could ever adequately express, but the love she gave and the memories she created will remain with them for generations to come.

Though they will deeply miss gathering with Nanny in the place that held so many of their memories, they will forever be grateful for the home she created. Because she loved her family so well, a little piece of home will always be wherever they are.

Cynthia is survived by her children, Robert Martin and his wife, Sandra Martin; David Martin; Betsy Hollingsworth and her husband, Michael Hollingsworth; and Darlene Jones, as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Lee Martin; her son, Darby Martin; her parents; her five siblings; and her two granddaughters, Cindy Jones Humphrey and Katrina Jones-Rich.
