Carolyn "Lu" Luanne (McMath) Kepple of Joshua, TX passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 after a battle with dementia. Lu was born in Fort Worth, TX on November 30, 1941.
Lu, lovingly known by many as Mama Lu, Grandma LuLu and LuLu, grew up in Fort Worth with her parents Eugene and Martha McMath and her 4 siblings C.T., David, Judy and Geoff.
She met the love of her life, Kenneth Edward Kepple in the Fall of 1959 on a blind date. They were engaged in May 1960 and got married on December 22, 1960 at Travis Avenue Baptist Church. They lived in Fort Worth the first 2 years of marriage before they moved to Joshua. Lu did not think she would like living in a small town but she quickly grew to love it and lived there the remainder of her life.
For the first 8 years of their marriage Lu worked at Lone Star Gas Co. and Whitten's Pharmacy as a typist and clerk. In 1972, the Kepple's decided to use their savings to purchase a White's Auto (later Western Auto) and Ace Hardware in downtown Joshua. They would continue to run the business together and raise their family before closing their doors on New Years Eve 2002 to retire and enjoy their grandgirls.
Lu was a born caretaker and started cooking and grocery shopping for her family at a very young age. She always loved babies and could not wait to be a mom. It took she and Kepple many years of trying for children but they eventually were blessed with their son, Kyle in 1970 and their daughter, Cari in 1972.
Lu was always a giving soul and a wonderful cook that was enjoyed by many. She was very involved in her community and she worked all year on different projects for her church Lord's Acres making jellies, different mixes, her famous Chex mix, and homemade dog bones. She was also known for her Christmas goodie trays she would make and deliver to friends and neighbors.
As much as Lu loved being a mom, her favorite job in life was when she became a grandmother. She was very present in her granddaughters' lives, often babysitting them, picking them up from school, attending their events and making her famous chocolate cake for their birthdays. She loved to spoil them with treats and mailed them cards on special occasions with money or gift cards in them.
Lu was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, her parents, and brothers, C.T McMath and David McMath
She is survived by her daughter, Cari and her husband,, Greg of Burleson, TX., as well as their 3 daughters, Lauren, Cambrie and Savannah; her son, Kyle of Springtown, TX. and his 2 daughters, Ashlee and Lyndzee and his stepdaughter, Cierra. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Clinkscales, and her brother, Geoff McMath as well as many nieces, nephews and family friends.
The family asked that in lieu of flowers to donate to Joshua FUMC food pantry or any local food bank.
They also want to give a big thank you to the staff in her memory care unit at Wilshire Abby Living who took such good care and loved LuLu as well as the Hospice team from AleveCare.
