Bobby Clayton Puryear, 85, of Burleson passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021. Graveside service: 10:00 a.m. Friday in Caddo Cemetery, Joshua. Visitation: 10 to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Bobby was born February 9, 1936, in Fort Worth to Clayton and Gertrude Puryear. Bobby was a very proud and loving husband, father, grandfather and educator. He attended school at Santo, Texas where his father served as Superintendent of Schools. Bobby received a full basketball scholarship to the University of Texas Austin. After graduation Bobby was offered a position with the Everman school district as teacher/coach. His career lasted 44 years moving from teacher/coach to vice-principal to principal and finally to assistant superintendent. He received his Masters at the University of North Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Puryear; parents, Clayton and Gertrude Puryear, great granddaughter, Raven Goff, brother, Billy Puryear, sister in law Becky Puryear, and other family members.

Survivors: Son, Jon Puryear and wife, Rocel; grandchildren, Tanner Trujillo, Hope Hudgins, Alexa Priest, Chance Priest, Ashten Fleming and daughter Aveline; brother, James Puryear and nephews; brother-in law, Tommy McKinzey and wife, Cheryl and nieces and nephews; and many other loving extended family.
