Barry Wayne Meadows
October 31, 1951 - September 15, 2025
Barry Wayne Meadows, 73, of Burleson, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 15, 2025. He was born on October 31, 1951, in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in Sweetwater, Texas. Barry carried a strong faith, a love for family, and a kind spirit that touched many lives.
He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1971, and spent most of his career in retail management, working with Mott's 5 & 10, Cloth World, and Dollar General. His career brought him from Sweetwater to Burleson, where, while working as an assistant manager at Mott's, he met the love of his life, Shirley. Their meeting grew into 47 years of marriage filled with devotion and partnership.
Barry was a loving son, brother, husband, brother-in-law, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. He adored his family, especially his daughter Amber and her husband Cabel, and he found great joy in being "Poppy" to his bonus granddaughter Shaelyn. He was happiest when spending time with them, whether traveling, cheering on his favorite Texas sports teams, or dog-sitting his grand dogs. After the loss of his wife Shirley and his son Alan, Barry and his daughter Amber shared special adventures together, including trips to Washington, D.C., Hawaii, and Ireland, along with many visits to Jeremiah's Italian Ice for treats.
Barry's faith in Jesus Christ shaped his life. He lived with confidence in God's promises, shared his love for the Lord with those around him, and found peace knowing he would one day be reunited with Shirley and Alan. He also enjoyed cheering for football and baseball, celebrating when the Texas Rangers finally won the World Series, and traveling with friends from First Travel of Burleson.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Vergie Meadows, his beloved wife Shirley, and his son Alan. He is survived by his daughter Amber Meadows and her husband Cabel Brooks of Burleson, Texas, granddaughter Shaelyn Brooks of Argyle, Texas, brother John Meadows Jr. of Hanford, California, brother James Melvin Meadows and wife Sharon of Fort Worth, Texas, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, church family at Oak Grove Baptist Church, and dear friends across Texas and beyond.
Barry will be remembered for his unwavering faith in Jesus, his devotion to family, and the joy he found in life's simple blessings. He will be deeply missed, but his family rejoices knowing he is now in the presence of his Savior and reunited with Shirley and Alan in Heaven.
