Barbara Jean Young was born on August 29, 1939, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Jack and Maurine Robison.
She passed away October 8, 2025, in her home surrounded by family. That moment when Heaven met Earth, Jean left this temporary home and her wheelchair for the past 20 years and ran into the very presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
She grew up all over west Texas while her dad worked in the oil field. It was in Big Spring, Texas where she met, fell in love and married David J. Young on August 27, 1956. They have two daughters, Jeanene born in 1960 in Jacksonville, Florida, and Janet born in 1962 in Odessa, Texas. Jean and David traveled a lot during the early years of marriage with David's work and in 1965, they settled in Burleson, Texas, and built a home.
Jean was a teacher at Hughes Middle School in Burleson, Texas, for 20 years, she cooked and served the Wednesday night meals at First Baptist Church and was a Camp Fire Girl troop leader. She was the ultimate hostess for her beloved family on holidays, birthdays or just to spend time together. She loved gardening, sewing, tennis, painting, ceramics, and traveling all over the United States with David in their motorhome. In her later years, she was known as the Skip-bo Queen (rarely ever lost), enjoyed bingo, parties, chocolate pie and wearing anything that sparkled!
Those who remain will remember her bravery, her courage, her sacrifice, and her smile that lit up a room. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 69 years, David; her daughters, Jeanene and her husband Rex Russell; Janet and her husband Mike Scarbrough; her grandsons, Joshua Scarbrough and his wife Jenna; Dawson Russell and his wife Neva and Jordan Scarbrough. She had nine precious great-grandchildren, Caed and his son Bryce; Luka and Michael Scarbrough; Shepherd, Judah, and Eli Russell; and Jack, Joey, and Julie Scarbrough. Her many nieces, nephews, and friends will also cherish her many memories. Jean was greeted in heaven by her adored brother, Frosty Robison, who preceded her in death last year.
