Annie Ruth "Polly" Burt

Annie Ruth “Polly” Burt was born at her parent’s home in Fisher County Texas near the town of Roby. Parents James Audas “Buster” Rowland and Winnie Bell (Copeland) Rowland. She peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:10 Sunday morning February 1st 2026. Passing into the hands of Jesus at 93 yrs of age, due to natural causes.

Polly grew up on the family farm with her parents and two brothers. Charles Jay Rowland and James Audas Rowland Jr. She attended Roby Baptist Church, where her father was a deacon, choosing to give her life to her Lord and Savior at an early age. She enjoyed horseback riding and swimming in the river, using her horse for swimming and diving platform. She did not like plowing behind the family’s two mules.

She attended school in Roby and played basketball in High School. She started college at Hardin Simmons in Abilene and worked as a nurse’s aid at the hospital in Sweetwater. Polly left college in 1954 to marry the local Army recruiter Amdrew Matt Burt from Junction Texas. In 1976 Polly soon returned to Hardin Simmons and got her Master’s degree in accounting. She worked in accounting in the Abilene area before moving to Cedar Creek Lake area in 1990. She worked as an accountant and then for HHSC in the Cedar Creek Lake Area. Polly retired from The State of Texas. Polly was a loving wife and mother. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very outgoing and never met anyone that did not become her friend. Polly was preceded in death by her parents, James and Winnie Rowland, her brothers Jim and Charles Rowland, many brother and sister-in-law, ex-husband Andrew Matt Burt Sr, Sons Andrew Matt Burt Jr, Fane Britt Burt Daughter in law Pamela Jean Burt, Granddaughter Raven Sky Ledbetter.

She is survived by her, daughter Jo Anna Copeland of Mansfield, son James Charles Burt and Daughter in law Katherine Marie (Childs) Burt of Burleson. Grandchildren Timothy Matt Burt Sr of Haltom City, James Eugene Burt of Arlington, George Edward Sutton of Haltom City, Melissa Gayle Sutton of Mansfield Victoria Lynn Sheedy of Fort Worth and John Alexander Morris of Winchester Virginia. Eleven Great grandchildren.

Polly and her enthusiasm for life, family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
