Minnie Lou (Owen) Schmars was born in Joshua, Texas on November 2, 1930 to Henry and Beulah (Walker) Owen as their only child. She passed to her heavenly home Monday morning, February 26, 2024.
Minnie Lou lived in Johnson County all her life. She attended Burleson schools and was Valedictorian of her graduating class. She worked in the Fort Worth District of the Corps of Engineers and retired with over 30 years of service.
She loved her church and was a devoted member to First Baptist Church / NorthPointe for more than 50 years. She particularly enjoyed visiting those members that were in assisted living facilities.
Minnie loved to travel and took cruises
all over the world. She was proud of her
huge yard and could often be found pulling weeds, picking up sticks, or on the riding lawnmower. She was a devoted Mother and loved being "Nana" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Jeffrey Carothers.
She is survived by her two daughters,
Daryl Lynn Carothers of Hewitt, Tx and Susan Coble and husband Chris of Joshua, Tx. Grandchildren include
Kris and wife Alison of Plymouth, Mi;
Karen Freeman and husband Joel of Lorena, Tx; Clay Coble and wife Savanah of Joshua, Tx; and Kristen and husband Tyson Brown of Granbury, Tx.
Great grandchildren are Caleb and Lauren Carothers, Mabry and Micah Freeman, and Vaden Brown.
